"Stories are the most fascinating medium to engage and communicate"

Storytelling for Children

I named my storytelling initiative Golpo Tales Unlimited in 2014 after my favourite companions from my childhood, Golpos from Kolkata

(Golpo means stories in Bengali). This initiative is aimed at taking stories and storytelling to children and adults.

I often try and integrate multiple elements like narration, music, drama and movement to make my storytelling sessions more interesting. I believe in widening children’s imagination and keeping them highly engaged and thus these sessions seamlessly flow between fun and learning.

My repertoire for children includes inspirational stories, traditional tales, mythology, biographies and more. Collaborating with children books publishers like Karadi Tales, Tulika publications, I have been able to interact with school children through storytelling, literature festivals,  theatre workshops and other events across the globe.

Testimonials

"Janaki's riveting performances always leave everyone in splits! She seamlessly includes foot-tapping tunes and catchy choruses that are as infectious as her energy.  One must catch Janaki in action and see the magic to believe it!"
