A multifaceted professional, Janaki Sabesh interweaves creativity, innovation and her diverse abilities in all her endeavours. Over the past 25 years of her career, she has played various roles as an Actor, Storyteller, Trainer, Author, Theatre, Voice Artist and Marketer.

Media/Films/Theatre
Janaki started her career in media with her first assignment as an Assistant Director in Simi Garewal’s “India’s Rajiv”. In her media career spanning 25 years, apart from acting and modelling, Janaki has also worked in several AD films as an assistant director in her 5 years stint with JS films of P. Jayendra and PC Sreeram.

She has acted in more than 30 movies across Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Janaki has played significant roles in marquee films including Minsara Kanavu, Jeans, Ghilli and Singham to name a few. She has also modelled for leading brands like Cadburys, Pepsodent, KFJ, NAC Jewellers, Chakra Gold Tea and Jansons Dhoti.
Janaki is also a theatre artist and has worked with popular theatre groups in Chennai including Crea-Shakthi and Madras Players. She also trains theatre practitioners on effective storytelling.

Marketer
While following her passion for media, Janaki also pursued a career as a marketer with Qube Cinema Technologies ( formerly Real Image Media Technologies) for 18 years, handling multiple marketing and business development initiatives of the company. She was part of the core team that implemented DTS ( Digital Theatre Systems), and introduced Qube Digital Platforms, to movie theatres across India.

Storyteller
Stories have always been an integral part of Janaki’s life. In the past 5 years, they have assumed a more significant role, through her storytelling initiative “Golpo Tales Unlimited”, where stories are presented to audiences of all ages. Her sessions are an interactive mix of narration, music, movement and audience participation. Read more
Trainer
Janaki’s training sessions are highly engaging and participative, where the focus is on the question “ Why Stories”, and how they can be used effectively – in the classroom or in the boardroom. She conducts workshops for parents, teachers, working professionals, organisations and college students. Read more
Author
A simple question from a child during one of her storytelling sessions prompted her to write her first picture book ‘The Jungle Storytelling Festival’ published by Tulika Books, in 2018. This book has been published in 9 languages.
